My love, I will take from your hands,
when you are asleep, the abandoned flower
that they barely hold, and from your lips,
which I will silently contemplate,
I will just retain the vision of a kiss. I know
that in your body now at rest, I would find mine,
like a shipwreck would find at sea
its own peaceful destiny. I know this
with certainty, but I know too that the less
you feel me near you, the more I’m given
the exact signal of my affection. For
I don’t return glowing with victory,
nor from your embrace would come
my sheltered rest. I see instead, in a mirror
of beauty and peacefulness,
in a quiet sea of petals, another dimension
of what love is. One that was still unknown to me,
one such as you will never see revealed,
one that my contemplation will inspire,
how ever much my flesh may still be bleeding
from the wounds opened by desire.
It is in dreams that I
will visit you. In the depth of your sleep
I will be reflected like a narcissus
that in your body would have found
its only mirror. As you project on me
this hazy light, I am as revealed
as I am faded. And thus it is
that an unexpected ghost will touch your body
in the most truthful way, and imprint on mine
your very shape. Holding you in silent
contemplation, I’ll leave myself, I’ll leave the world.
I’ll disappear, vanishing slowly
till I am but your gentle breath. And through it,
my love, you will be back.

Ofélia

Meu amor, eu irei buscar junto às tuas mãos,
quando dormires, a flor abandonada
que delas se suspende, e dos lábios,
que no maior silêncio haverei de contemplar,
colher apenas a visão de te beijar. Eu sei
que nesse corpo adormecido, o meu encontraria,,
se nele se perdesse como o náufrago
que não sabe outro destino que o mar,
a sua única paz. E no entanto,
sabendo-o, permanecer junto a ti quanto menos
dessa presença possas sequer suspeitar,
dá-me o sinal mais exacto deste afecto. Pois
dele já não regresso vitorioso,
nem do seu abraço chega o repouso
a dar-me abrigo. Antes revelo a mim,
Pois é no sonho
que creio visitar-te, e no sono abandonado
a que te entregas que eu deposito apenas
os reflexos, qual narciso de que fosse
teu corpo único espelho. Assim
reflectes tu, em mim, dessa luz diáfana
o que me revela a um saber
desaparecer. Já que é por ele, que do meu corpo
faz inesperado espectro, que chego a tocar-te
de um modo verdadeiro. Aquele que no meu
desenha o teu maior contorno. A ter-te
no silêncio, a contemplar-te, eu deixo
de ser meu, deixo de ser do mundo. Desaparecendo
é em ti que me vou fundindo aos poucos,
até não ser mais que o sopro
que respiras. E por ele,
amor, hás-de voltar.
