We’re here to turn
the dead into the living,
searching for what we feel
life is giving us –

art happens, the poet said,
art happens when the poem
is happening – the substance
of thought that materialises

and wins over that which makes us free:
death:
to love you will soon be what is put to the test
by the addiction to living –

as I know you I forget who I was
changing into the dark
and into the deep art
of clandestine living.

Estamos aqui para converter
os mortos em vivos, buscando
o que sentimos no que a vida
nos vai dando –

a arte sucede, disse o poeta,
a arte sucede quando o poema
é sucedâneo – substância do
pensamento que ganha corpo

e vence o que nos liberta:
a morte:
amar-te será em breve
o que o vício de viver disputa –

conhecendo-te esqueço quem fui
convertendo-me ao escuro
e à profunda arte de viver
encoberto.
